Water in trunk

For some time now ive noticed water gets into my trunk whenever my car happens to be out in the rain, i thought for the longest time that it was getting in from the radio antenna on the rear deck that i put on when i got a radio for the car, but it turns out its not coming from there, it seems to be running down the wheelhouses on both sides inside the trunk.
Could this be a leak from the rear window or have any of you had this problem?

Most likely coming from two sources, like you said from the rear windows, or from under the stainless moulding that runs side to side at the bottom of the rear glass. The clips that hold that moulding down go thru holes in a channel and have nuts on the bottom side. If the antennas have good gaskets probably not coming from there. Get somebody you trust with a water hose a flashligh and get in the trunk and take a looksee.

Ive got the stainless molding off right now and am gonna check the clips, the sealant around them looks original so most likely water is getting past them. thanks Dick for your advice......

What about weather stripping? When I wash my car I get water in my trunk. I need new weatherstripping. I've got it, just have to install it.

Hi - That was one of the issues with my Red 59 SF which I'm restoring now. Whenever it rained I would have water in the trunk right over the passanger side hinge. When I removed the old trunk weather stripping under it the channel was badly rusted with a lot of holes in it, the piece is about 12 to 18 inches long centered over the hinge and running into the curve which reminds me I thought I had ordered that piece from Big M but I guess we both forgot about it. If you are reading this Big M, was up wi dat. Not saying for sure but you may have some holes in the channel under you old trunk gasket.

Hi John - When did you send the PM. I'm assuming PM stands for parts manuel? If it was a while ago I never got it. I have a parts manuel just in case.
Dick.

Dick, the PM stands for Private message. You should have gotten a notification from this board, and you can check your messages at the top of the screen [beneath where it says '59 Plymouth Forum on your screen]. I'll go ahead and send you an e-mail. ---John

If I haven't before, I now sincerely apologise for apparently insulting you.
I can only guess that my clumsy typing added some capital letters in my message, making it seem like I was being sarcastic. Once bitten twice shy, it is said..the fact that you took offense has made me slow down, and review my grammar etc before posting.
Water can also leak in down the third member..have you removed/inspected the area around the short stainless curves at the third member pillars.. also, if you have a Flitesweep decklid, water can pool in the fake tire and leak into the trunk.

no i havent got one of those "toilet seats" Roger, lol, yesterday i sealed the window rubber,i can see a small stream of water running down both wheelhouses and the first time i took off the rear window garnish moulding and sealed in there, dont think that was where it was coming in tho,so ill see what this latest exercise will do, thanks!
