Just an update.....
Thought id stop by and banter a bit about what ive been up to lately......
I took the old Plymouth for a long overdue trip to the gas tank repair shop, where it was treated to what turned out to be a rebuild of my fuel tank, it had a lot of rust in it and some pinholes as well, so it got cleaned, baked, lined and now even the gauge works! ( It never had , as long as i owned it anyway) so, with that out of the way i had to turn my attention to the old Chev....
Had to get some new tires for it as the old bias tires were cracking on the sidewallls , so with that done i then turned my attention to the engine......
Its a 235 6 cylinder, and late last year i discovered that # 5 cylinder was not working, so the other day i did a compression test, found that 110 PSI was about the norm throught till i got to # 5, it had about 40 or so PSI, so i squirted some oil in the cylinder and it came right up, which is an indication of a sticky piston ring.
Ive seen various thoughts and ideas on fixes on that on various sites on the net, anyone here have any ideas on what easy fix may work?

Hi Bob - For your sticky piston rings you might try Lucas upper cylinder lubricant. The quart size treats about 100 gallons of gas or diesel fuel. It's a product that removes carbon in the cylinder chamber and injectors. I have used it in all my engines and have seen an improvement in compression. It's readly avaliable at most parts stores. I'm not sure but I think it was highly recommended by Auto Restorer Magazine.

yeah that lucas stuff rocks, i try to use it every other tank. u might try putting some marvel mystery oil in crankcase in addition, or maybe some engine flush (basically diesel fuel anyways). let us know the outcome!
