If at first you don't succeed...

I signed with a new contractor. The debris removal is nearly complete -- then to set the rebar. Alas! The 10 day forecast calls for freezing overnight temperatures (way freezing...). My new contractor wants to pour next week, but I won't let him. This time, we're going to do things right.

Meanwhile, my old contractor should be served with a lawsuit within the next 10 days (I filed yesterday)... If, they can find him.

While waiting for warmer weather, we got 6" of snow! My new contractor was going to put plywood on the trenches, but never got around to it. I guess he was, er, busy... (*sigh*).

So I waited for the snow to pack, then today I jumped in the trenches and popped the snow out in chunks, and threw it into the middle of the yard. Then I chucked the chunks over the fence into the driveway. That way, there will be little melt to weaken the footings... And temperatures are supposed to get a lot milder this week. With any luck, the remaining snow will melt and we can do the pour by the end of the week; a cure over the weekend, and blockwork can start next week. Gawd, it's about time! If only the weather cooperates, and my contractor too...
