See new users come and go?

That's because while I can't prevent them from registering (even though they have to type in the text from a graphic), I can prevent them from posting until I approve -- and most of them are spammers. So I go in, and delete their accounts... and the last qualified user appears as the latest.
Maybe someday I'll get around to installing a mod that prevents even these registrations. Maybe someday I'll fix Faulkner's radiator too!
We'll see.

Wow, I got hammered today by spambot registrations. They can't post, until I authorize -- but I can't stop them from registering.
Well, maybe now I can; I installed a mod that rejects registrations by bots that fill in a (hidden) entry on the form. When they do -- the site recognizes them for the perverts they are.
Let's see how well it works...

Man, complications and technical wizardry. Reminds me of the Matrix movies where they "virtually" travel thru the phone lines..

Hey, it's been 24 hours and I haven't gotten any spam registrations! Maybe it's working...
Too bad, that's been the only email I've gotten lately from the Forum.

It's kinda quiet. Everyone Christmas shopping?

Okay Dan, here's a little bit of news (as seen elsewhere on the Forum)
"Ragtop", the fellow who towed a 59 SF cvt out of a high Colorado valley, was asking for passenger door trim, among other items.
I looked thru my stuff and found the anodized insert and the larger trim piece..both in pretty good shape. I offered both to him for $75. Does everyone agree that is a good price? (Shipping will be extra).
I also mentioned that there is a MM in MN who specializes in these cars and he could contact MM if price were no object.
The only other news I have is that my Plymouth donated some gasoline to the cause as the Pacific NW experienced a widespread power failure caused by high winds toppling trees into power lines...I was w/o electricity for 48 hours, but I used the Plymouth's gasoline in my generator and was able to keep the lights on and the heat going.

Well Dan and Roger,
As I see, you feel lonely these days.

Let me join you. It seems that our friends are busy with their Christmas-presents. I’ve been in Lisbon last week. We have family there and my wife also took the chance to go shopping. Usually she buys stuff for anybody else, except for herself. We also visited Europe’s biggest Christmas tree. It’s height is 72 meters. That is equal a 23 story building. Kind of pity that we can’t send our wives go shopping and go have a drink together, don’t you aree?

Cool tree, Stefan! What are you doing this evening? C'mon over! I've got some good stuff in the closet...

Yeah, well, maybe it's not. I'm still getting slammed, even though I've incorporated two mods to prevent bots from registering.
I hate spam!!!

Death to spambots!

OK, I've installed a new spambot killer. It requires a human answer to a question -- in this case, what satellite did the Soviets first launch in 1957. I can easily change the question (and answer), so if you think of a better one for 1959, let me know! In the meantime -- this spambot killer has a good reputation. I've been getting dozens of robotic spam registrations every day, so hopefully this will do the job.

Three days, and not a single spam registration!! What a simple fix.
Guess it's time for the website to get hacked again...
