Well, I have read all the posts and still no luck locating a windshield for my '59 Two-door post Savoy. I had the car 15 years with many miles driven without a scratch. Two weeks ago my garage door spring completly smashed out the windshield when the garage door cable broke.

Fair warning - make sure your long garage door springs have saftey cables installed - that would have prevented this accident.

Am I really going to have to settle for glass from a bone yard? With 1/2 million cars built doesn't someone have aftermarket glass available for this car.

I have tried OEM, Pilkinton in Ohio, and Safelite, Banner and many others with no luck.

Any and all leads are appreciated. My car is custom so date coding is not important. Tinted Glass is appreciated since the car has air conditioning.

check out the services offered on this forum. there's a couple if money's no object. even a few posts with name and info in them. expect to pay about $500. l8terz--jeremy

Good News,

A windshield shop about 30 miles from my home located a new windshield (they even have blue or green tint). Price installed is estimated at $550. Now let's hope it really fits a two-door post sedan and not a hardtop!!!

I found the windshield rubber at Andy Bermbaum's for $99.

Can any expert tell me if my original headliner will be disrupted by tearing out old rubber and installling new rubber?

not sure, not enough left of my headliner to go off of. but i do know that only the back window has to be removed for the headliner to be installed according to the factory manual. so i wouldn't think the windshield should interfere.--j

Thanks for the information. I am sure hoping that the windshield replacement does not involve the headliner. My original hedliner is actually in very good shape, but I am sure it would not stand much futzing around before it would rip to pieces!

My rear glass has a small leak and the upholstery shop did say that the glass must come out to replace the headliner and there were no guarantees that the glass would not break in the process. The car is mostly garaged so I just hope it does not rain when we are cruisin.

Now I just need to unearth the '59 from the garage and get it Jerdanned to the glass shop.
