Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach 2018
Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach 2018
I received this comment this evening:
Thanks for the tip Joe! I went looking for the auction - this from the Barrett-Jackson Website:Joe Goedec wrote:Dan --
I don't know if you're aware of this, but the Barrett-Jackson soiree in Palm Beach is offering a '59 Sport Fury ragtop from the John Staluppi collection that has the 361 2X4V carb setup. It has all kinds of AACA and concours awards, but not only has the 2X4V bit, but also wire wheels (which definitely were a "no-go" in 1959, especially with us in the hot rod set).

Lot #707 - This award-winning and beautifully restored Fury is powered by an 8-cylinder engine with 2x4 barrel carburetor and 3-speed automatic transmission. Its awards include 2009 First Junior at AACA National, 2010 Best of Show at Stowe Vermont, 2010 Best of Show at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, 2010 Best of Class at the Newport, RI Concours, 2010 Best Plymouth at Hemmings Concours, 2011 First Senior at AACA National, 2012 First Grand National at AACA, 2013 Best in Class at AACA Regional in Boston and 2013 Best in Class at Concours on the Charles. From the John Staluppi Cars of Dreams Collection.

Incredible, right? Here's a few pix from Facebook - photos of the TV, of the auction underway:
Mike McCandless wouldn't touch it. He spotted spidering under the paint!

Hi,
I'm new to your site, not the car.
Question, why do people have an issue with the wire wheels? I like them, mine had hubcaps, but The wheels look nice. Are they a factory option or an aftermarket item?
Thanks
Ed

Hi Ed! It's good to hear from you.
Wire wheels were an option on Chryslers in '59, but not on Plymouths - Matthew can correct if I misstate. I like their look, but hey, I also like wheels painted the color of the car
Post some pix of your car, please!

See? I'll never win this argument.
Hey Dick, battening down the hatches? Us old geezers can't be too careful with COVID-19 on the march. Be safe, be healthy - Yvonne too.

We are trying, we both had a bout with Bronchitis for a week an a half. I had to stay home from work. I'm back now. This is the first time in over a year l have received an email from the forum, in fact any emails at all from the site. What's up with that. You and Martha be careful too.
Dick.
