After I wrote this article, Onelio Garcia Perez moved to Miami to be with his kids (Onelio has a Spanish passport). I still have trouble understanding him (and half of that is my hearing), but we do speak from time to time. He's working there installing stereo systems for a Cuban friend, with the plan to get his green card.
Today he sent me this pic of a shirt he had planned to give me at the event in La Piragua, but forgot - he brought with him to Miami. All I have to do is go there to pick it up - and, lose 50 lbs. so it will fit
