Suburban gas tank

I was finally able to get the gas tank out of my 59 Suburban and sad to say it has a lot of rust and holes in it. I can't afford much for repairs to have it done so wondering if there is a safe way to repair it myself ? I wish I could afford to do better but I cannot.
Thank you for your help.

Dick - Sorry to hear about you gas tank, I would imagine they are very hard to find. I suggest you take it to a radiator shop and see if they can help you. They do a lot of repair (brazing) work on radiator tanks, they could boil it out, repair it and coat the interior. Anyway, it won't hurt to get a price.

Hi Dick, I have checked around and so far the cheapest I have found is a place in Seattle that charges $345.00 to do it and I just can't afford that so I will have to figure out something else.
Thank you for your suggestion.

I think I know a guy that I used to work with who is an artist with metal and a torch so I will let you know how this works out. I guess the next question is where can I get a tank sending unit for the Suburban tank ?
