Inner front fender wells

Post by skyhawk61 »

Getting close to putting the paint on the 59 Fury. The factory body color was Jet Black, with a white top. I know the firewall is painted body color, but what about the inner fender wells (engine compartment side) and the radiator support color? The car was a Lynch Road build. My 59 Fury 4 door parts car was a Los Angeles build, and I've read they used a different color than the Detroit cars. What have you guys been doing on black cars? Dennis

Thanks for the info, Mark. I've seen them done several ways. Body color on the inner fender shields and core support, semi-gloss black on the fender shields and core support, semi gloss on the fender shields and body color on the core support. Since my car is originally black, I'm trying to determine whether to paint the fender shields gloss black(body color) like the firewall, or use semi-gloss black; same thing with the radiator core support. My green 59 Fury parts car has black(rusty) semi-gloss fender shields and a green radiator core support. (Los Angeles build) They appear to be original to the car. Dennis
