Guy's: Does anyone know where to get the spacer for the handle door panel spring? 1/2" center hole,17/8" outside diameter,or make one? Another question,does the spacer go between the handle and door panel,or against the spring and door panel? Seems that there should be something protecting the panel from wear of the handle movement.Some of my door components are missing,I did find the springs on E-Bay (8) 4DR. Mark M

Mark - I don't use the springs, I find it makes it very difficult to push the panel in far enough to get to the clip to take the handle off and to tell you the truth I don't think they are needed. The plastic spacer goes between the panel and the handle to help prevent wear. My Green car has them but Charleen does not. You might check on ebay or local upholstery shops.

I had re-used my handle springs on my Belvedere but did not have the plastic anti-scuff washers when I took the door handles off the original tattered door panels. None were there...Either dried up and cracked away or were not installed on my car.

They (plastic washers) look similar to the ones that are used on the swivel seat arm rest pivot points (two of them, one on each side) , Mine survived and I re-used them when I put the swivel seats assembly in my car. But again, none on the door. I bet with a hole saw and some thin gauge plastic sheet, you could re-make the missing plastic washers..Just a thought. I had remade the metal circle in my Sport Deck with a hole say and it came out great. Just had to MIG weld tack on two studs a voila!

Thanks for the replies,Dick you are right about the spring being tight creating A problem,I was thinking of doing the panels in A pleat (tuck and roll) and it would be worse.The thin plastic and hole saw(make my own) idea sounds best,as I see the need for wear protection between the handle and panel during movement.Again thanks!!!!!!!!!!! Mark & John - Using the springs without the plastic washers will guarantee rapid wear of the door panels. I think I will made some for Charleen!

Since these door panels are not cheap to make, I better whip some up too! Thanks for the advice!
