Defroster duct

Guy's What size defroster ducting and type/brand do you use.My guess is 2 1/2 ID,2FT long each side? Does the ducting fit inside the flange at the windshield/dash outlet,and outside the flange at the floor outlet?Just wondering if I was missing something.Where do you get it at Napa? I tried napas,ID 2 1/2 but it would not slip over the flange,didn't seem right.Is Gates brand A better fit? Thanks Mark M
