59 Fury Passenger upper door stainless needed

Post by RyanPoulos »

Hello,
I have a 59 Fury 2dr HT and I need the Pass side door upper stainless piece. I have the insert that goes between the molding, but I need the stainless molding that goes on top.

Does anyone know where I can find one ?

Thanks,
Ryan Poulos

Hi Ryan,

Welcome on this forum.
I don't know where you can find them. I'm sure somebody can help you. If I see it I will post it for you.

Do you have a pic of your car?? Please post it. If you can't upload it, try this: http://www.jerkbeast.com/upload/
You can upload pics for free there. I'd love to see it.
You can mail Dan a little story about you and your Fury and be in the showcase. That would be great. The more Plymouth's we got, the better!
Oh yeah, please register ;-)

Hello Matthew,
Thank you for your response.

I only have a few pics of it on a trailer from hauling it home, so I'll get a couple of it on the ground and send'em. It's a great running and driving car, and I'm only missing this one piece.... I hope I can find it......

I'll also get registered asap.

Thanks,

Ryan,

I second Matthew's welcome! If you don't already use eBay, that's the place to look -- you see stainless for sale there all the time. Also, a regular on this board, Roger Howard, had quite a few pieces for '59's before he moved to his new house; much of it is probably now gone, but he may have some left. Perhaps you can send him a private message and inquire (once you've registered, of course :D ).

And by all means, send pix when you can. We're always looking for more members for our showcase.

Welcome!
Dan

Thank you for the greeting !!

I went outside and unloaded the car and took some pics. The sun was kind of going down, so it doesn't look as snazzy as it could, but I figured you'd like to see it regardless.

Note the stainless piece I need on the pass door. I have the thin metal insert, but no top molding to hold it in...... bummer... :)

Let me know what you think..... and thanks.....

Hello,

Thank you for the kind words.

The wife and I took the car out tonight to dinner and the front left brake locked up..... what a crazy deal. I was barely moving so I was lucky. I backed up slowly and it unlocked, then I crept home... I guess I better pull it apart and see what's up. Before that is was running and stopping great.

I'd appreciate any help on the parts. I thought of putting an ad on ebay with a pic of the car saying I'm looking for the parts...... It might help.

Keep in touch, and feel free to send me some pics of your cars.

Thanks,

Ryan Poulos

Hi Ryan,

Welcome to the forum!

I don't know where to find the trim part, but the glovebox latch is one of the easy to find parts. I found several on the web,
http://www.nosmopar1.com/index.php is one of your options. Just search for 1959 Plymouth parts on this site and you'll find it ($39.99).

Hey there.....

Thanks for the info.
I see the latch/key setup for the door, but I need the deal that goes on the dash ( the deal the little hook attaches to )...... It must be something I'm missing from my car...... If anyone has a picture of what it should look like, I'd appreciate it.

By the way, I think I may have found the stainless.....a guy emailed me and had a bunch, he just needed measurements to make sure he had the right one....... wish me luck.

I'll keep digging around, thanks for your help.

glove box latch.

believe it or not, the catchbar you seek was often just a large headed screw.
I am impressed that you found the stainless (or someone who has lots) so quickly!

Logging on and off

Roger, next time you logon, check the checkbox on the same page where it says "Log me on automatically each visit". Then, everytime you visit, you will automatically be logged on. If you browse elsewhere or close your browser, you will automatically be logged out after 5 minutes. Makes it easy!

Hey There,

Well, I did find a guy with a ton of stainless, but it was all for Sport Furys, so I'm back to square one. He did have one more car to look at, so I'm crossing my fingers. He said that he may have sold the complete trim to a guy that was converting a Savoy to a Fury..... Bummer.....

Can anyone out there take a picture of what my latch is supposed to look like ??? I have a large screw in the middle of mine, but the door latch won't hook on it.

Take care,

hello,
yes the catch is actually a metal piece with a sheetmetal screw in its middle. If you have the screw, and the glove box door still wont catch, either something is out of alignment, or the latch is broken, both common problems. I can get you a pic (shoulda done it today), but you will have to wait a day or two.
Dan, I cannot log on when I am an "guest", so it seemed to me to be catch-22..I finally remembered my simple username and password, and will try to stay logged on from now on...
I did look for brake springs but found none. As for the Fury trim, what I have is probably for sedan, but I did not have a chance to look, as my 7 yr old brought in a neighbor's cat which got into the wet paint and basically ruined my day...yadiyadiyah
