I also go for unpainted. I do not think that part was attached to the engine at that point it (engine) was painted at the engine assembly factory.
Either way is fine but I go for unpainted look.Your choice...

Unpainted is also my choice. I installed it yesterday
Ethanol killed the inside and I had it rebuilt at , Then and Now Auto in Weymouth Ma , 781-335-8860 ,

They turned it around in 5 days and came out 100% new looking and works great for $85

Speaking of ethanol, this stuff causes rubber fuel lines "of old" to rot from the inside out. As this could result in a fire, all old car owners should update their rubber fuel lines...the section that connects tank to steel line, and the section that connects steel line to fuel pump.
There is discussion to approve 20% (now 10%) ethanol in commercial gasoline. I learned this from an article posted at a lawnmower repair shop. Ethanol dissolves old rubber fuel lines, carb seals, fuel pump seals, etc.
