Mark; Sorry I did not get back to you sooner ,I just checked my e-mail and seen you got back to me,I am not on that much, and not that much computer savy.Attached pics, from what I gather there should be a ring with the four round knobs at 10, 2, 4, 8, o'clock.I am not sure how the ring attaches,or maybe the last owner didn;t like it and cut it off ? Iam not sure if my wheel is complete already,or if the ring is missing.I have a fury 4door sedan[non sport],my wheel is kind of toast, not in the greatest shape.Send a pic and let me know what you have ,maybe strike a deal.Again thanks!! Mark,
What you have is a wheel that is found on a Sport Fury and somebody cut off or broke the horn ring.I do not know if that wheel was changed or it was offered on your model.
Maybe some of the other Guys can comment.
However I will send you some photos of both types. The one I have for sale is a Non Fury Model and would be correct for your car. Its all refinished and the Ring is Show chromed
I will send them after the Holiday, I will be traveling.

Generally speaking, there were two styles of steering wheels available.
1) Standard , 2) Deluxe

The Deluxe wheel is pictured above, although it's missing its horn ring.
The Deluxe wheel was on all Sport Furys, but was available as an option on all other models.
The Deluxe wheel had two big sections of clear, sparkly plastic between the solid color plastic grips at 3 and 9 o'clock, which crumbled after years of sun exposure.

The Deluxe horn ring itself is pot-metal and prone to breakage. It is attached to the rear of the center pad. It's actually two separate half-circles, but when assembled it appears as a full circle.

You definitely want to have a full horn ring with a half ring on above the center and the other half ring below the center. They are available on Ebay every now and then. Roger is right that John Fowlie (Big M auto salvage, Williams, CA) will probably one that will need re-chroming.

I do have a broken ring for free that has either the top or bottom half ring still remaining. This would only be a stop gap offering at best, but if you don't have one it is better then none.

There is also a unique bow tie looking horn pivot device you need. I will take pics of both of these parts on Thursday between the football games and the turkey feasting.

Thanks guys for the help and info.I would repair the original wheel with another horn ring, but the wheel would need a recast because it is in pretty bad shape.I was also considering changing to a black color wheel instead of the gray I have,if A complete "regular" fury wheel in black in fairly good shape, including the other "half style" horn ringcame up I would consider going that way.Again thanks, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!!! Mark P.S.I will call big M next week and see what he has also.

From Mark Evan's description of wheel he has for sale, I believe he has the standard wheel, with the "semi-circle" horn ring, which would be a"correct" unit for your Fury. It is easy to paint the solid plastic of a standard wheel to your liking..
Some members have recently paid for re-casting their Deluxe wheel...JQ, was it more than $400? First you have to have your Deluxe wheel core cleaned and re-plated, then send it off for re-casting, then you'd still have to find a decent 2-piece horn ring and related parts.
The bling factor is definitely there, but maybe you'd be better off spending that money on something else?
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Hey Mark,
Well, I was WAY off on that one! Thanks for the update on this.
I had my wheel re-cast by a man in Texas, back around the turn of the century. I didnt need the core re-plated. I can't recall what it cost, (definitely not over $1000), but he quit doing them soon after completing mine, saying it was simply too difficult and labor-intensive.
Definitely makes me appreciate what you and Dick and John and others are putting into their restorations!

Mark,

I had my wheel done in 2004 and the cost was $750 then. But it was well worth the money as it came out great!! Best spent $$ on the car in the last 10 years if you ask me. And beside that it was the reason for our first trip to the US together, shipping and tax were more expensive than a ticket to Denver so we decided to fly out there and take it home in our carry on luggage. No tax to pay so a cheap trip I thought....... at that time I did not know that we would be hooked and had to make a US trip every year (and sometimes more than once a year) since that trip. So in the end it cost me a lot more than $2000 8)

You can find the contact info on the guy who did my wheel in this topic viewtopic.php?f=6&t=44&p=95#p95
