FLORIDA ARRIVAL

Post by Dick Koch »

Well, I got him. Matthew that is, he arrived at the airport in a driving rain like we haven't had in a long time. Rain storms here usually dump a few minutes and are gone. This one lasted for hours, do you think that is an omen? Putting him to work today and going to a car show tonight, tomorrow and Saturday provided it doesn't rain. He is a 59 Plymouth walking encylopedia.

Just feed him Hamburgers! He knows where every burger joint is located in Arvada! Some had to close their doors due to the big fall off of burger sales when he left town!

He also knows how to find a NAPA store too! :P

If you mention the phrase "Philly cheesesteak", he'll get that faraway look in his eye and saliva will drip from the right side of his mouth.

I lived in NJ for 35 years and only twenty minutes from Philadelphia. "The only place you can get a Philly Cheesesteak is in Philly!"

Indian and Dan - I don't disagree but the ones down here are made by transplanted Philidelphians and are pretty good. Just like you can only get a real "poor boy samich" in New Orleans or at my house.

Gotta say, that Matthew know his 59's and has been more help than you can imagine. The first thing he fixed was the windshield wipers, he don't know what he did but they are woking and that's good enought for me. He fixed the turnsignals, the cancel mechanism for the turnsignals, and got all the up and down play out of the steering column. Next we got all the sport tone and trim on except for the doors. I need to put the guts back in the doors and then wet sand and buff them. Next we put the insulation in the roof, and installed the three piece headliner. I purchased the middle piece from Ed Eckerson but it was about 6 inches to long and 3/16 inch to wide. The middle piece that was in the car was a plain piece of white cardboad so wavy you would of thought it was the ocean. The one I got from Ed was vinyl perforated with all the litte holes and looks like the original. We trimed it and it fit perfectly. Alls thats left I need him to do, is get the brake lights working.

We just got home from my car club show and afterward I took him for a drive on Palm Beach, down worth avenue, the rodao drive of the south, to the Flagler Hotel (5 Star) and the Flagler Mansion/Museum (just looked at it from the gate) and then home. Tomorrow we are going to Abacoa Main Street Cruise (100 to 250 cars depending on the weather) We had a beautiful day today and expect tomorrow to be real nice also. Matthew is a great guy and a pleasure to be around, sorry he is leaving Monday. According to Mathew I've got about 47 thing to change on greenie to make it correct, sigh!

Yesterday Matthew and I took a Tour of the Beaches, Inlets, and up to Jupiter Island to see if we could see any Mansions over or thru the hedges, regardless its a beautiful drive. Saw some bikinies, I got more excited than Matthew. Came home to see if we could get the brake lights working but found out it's the mechanical part of the brake system, will get on that tommorrow.

This morning I delivered Matthew to the Airport for his 2 PM flight to Philly and then to Brussels. I must say he was a delight, and we enjoyed his visit very much.

I'll concur, Dick.

Matthew was a good, considerate guest during his stay here.
