Gas tank cleaning

Post by rankinrr »

Hey all, let me thank all again for all the advice for this new 59 owner. Ok, I just spent the last two hours shakin' my fuel tank around with two lenghts of chain and a padlock, which was attached to the one end. No key, too lazy to cut it off. First three times with acetone, then who knows how long with water, with rinses in between. Then three more times with acetone, with a acetone washer out. Put my nozel for air compressor in there and dried it out real good. Below, hopefully, are photos. I have one bud that says don't even bother coating it. Looks good. What do you all think? I don't think there are any leaks. Tank was undercoated.

You can see silver metal. I think.
