New Source for 59 License Plate Lense's

Post by Denver 59 Fin Convert »

During my numerous forays into E bay land, I saw and auction for a 61,63 & 64 Plymouth Valiant/Dodge Dart rear license plate lense and housing, it also said it was good for 59 Plymouth also, Sooooo, I spent 15 bucks to find out. The picture looked almost dead on.

When I recieved the purchased item, it was in fact 99% dead on for our 59's! In fact, the lense part number is the same at #1878198 and even the vendor code AAKK is the same. It has the PCPD Logo on it even though 61 was De Soto last year.

The Lense has the PLYBZ cast into to it. Only addition is some SAE script saying it is for 61 P & D (Plymouth and Dodge)

Here are some pics to see the my old cracked media blasted lense and the 61-63 version that will work in our cars!

I had recieved a decent original 59 lense from the Keij's that I was going to have a local Denver person recast. Now I can do both and see which one turns out the best. But to have the same part number used for three more years gives us a source to look for at swap meets or salvage yards, The metal light housing is similar but not the same as it has metal mouting ears on it that could be trimmed down if you do not have your original housing.
