This switch (see pitchuhs) with what I assume is a temperature sensing probe is mounted on the firewall right next to the AC recirculating door, when I removed the evaperator box I found the probe going thru the recirculating door opening into the evaporator chamber. Seems to me that will interfere with the door closing properly, (by the way I found the door in a shambles, sent it to Gary Goers and he made it like new) My question is: Should the probe go thru the door into the chamber or hang out in front of the door to sense the temperature so as not to interfere with the door closing. The wires on the swith are routed to the blower fan motor. There is no picture of the switch in the manual or parts book but the part # on the swith 1885864 I found it in the index at 24-28-241 Page 24-6. What chall think.

Look closely just below the lower left (drivers side) corner of the opening...is there a little grommeted hole there?
A Mopar filmstrip I have shows the sensor going thru a grommeted hole located very close to the flapdoor.
I have no way to reproduce the filmstrip photo...would have to take it to a photography shop or something.....

Is your a/c blower a 3-speed? If so , keep an eye out for a resistor. Forwardlook Frank believes there must be one to control blower speed.

Thanks for the reply Roger, There is no hole of any kind, I suppose I could drill a small hole and put a grommet in it for the probe if I was certain thats where it goes. I forgot your car is Air Conditioned, could you look under your dash and see if you have that switch and where the probe is routed. It would be much appreciated.

Dick, I have been ADDING the factory a/c to my car. It is not complete, so I can't tell you where the hole really should be. The only one I know who CAN tell us is John Zastrow (Fins59) in Wisconsin. He has a factory a/c car.

I don't recall how I determined the switch location, but looks I was right, and it ended up right where your switch is.
Maybe I can go to a local photo shop and get them to project this filmstrip, so I can snap a digital of it for you.

Roger - I hate to be a pain in the neck but do you have that switch in your car and if so where is the probe routed. Please do not go to the trouble of taking a picture yet.

Did you mean to address that last post to John Zastrow?
My car was not born with factory a/c. I have been installing a factory a/c set-up, shipped from a salvage yard in Idaho. I never saw the donor car. I don't know how the various items not pictured in any book get installed. I've based my installation on photos sent me by John Zastrow, (Fins59), of Wisconsin.
I have not completed the installation.

This is taken from a filmstrip I bought off eBay. I got the guy at WalMart photo counter to make a print, which I then scanned into a pdf file. (I dont know how else to do it.)
It will be interesting to learn how John Zastrow's car is "plumbed".

Roger - Didn't mean to put you to all that trouble. Looks like that may be the answer, I'll have to drill a hole and use a small grommet. I havent fiqured out how to contact John Fins59 can you help me with that.

Roger, Roger - I found the hole, I knew if you kept after me long enough I would find the hole. ahem!! It's in the evaporator housing. see pitchuh.
