Hello All,
I need to know the exact measurements/placement of the twin strut and triple strut (remote control) on the front fenders. I'm trying to get all of my holes drilled before the big day when she gets sprayed jet black. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! -Frank

Okay, I'll go first on this one, but I hope others will verify:
Twin strut vs triple strut....you've already lost me! Looking at my driver's side remote controlled fender mirror, I see two struts and a control bar. Is this a triple-strut?
Using a Stanley retractable tape measure, and hooking it on the point of the fender closest to the car door, I measure 8 7/16" inches to the center of the mirror's rear attaching screw.
From the edge of fender where it abuts the hood, I measure 3 1/16" to the center of the rear attaching screw, and 3 9/16" to the forward attaching screw.
I trust you have a mirror gasket you can use to pattern out for the large hole needed.
Moreover, I hope maybe Dick or John will simply measure their fenders and give you the location for the large control cable hole.

Thanks for replying. Yes, the triple strut I'm referring to is the remote control. The twin strut is the non-remote. Looking at the showcase, I have the same mirrors for my car that are on your convertible. Previously, my car had the two small "sport" mirrors but I like the full size mirrors for their style, etc.. I do have the gaskets, I just need to figure out where I put them . Thanks again for the help. Now if I can just find an A/C harness...... Talk with you later.

Dick Koch has his car almost entirely disassembled for painting. Maybe if you contact him directly (PM or email) you will get a solid answer.
And John Quinn has his car in pieces, but his is a Belvedere, so may not have the remote mirrors.

I'd be willing to take my drivers side mirror off so as to measure the exact location of all three holes. Let me know, okay?

Mine is a Belvedere, and it does have the remote mirror on the drivers side, pretty neat option for the era.....

Roger and Frank, I did measure my hole and it is 1 3/8 diameter and the center of the hole is from the inner fender edge, is 3.4375" to the center.

On the distance from the rear edge of the fender, I went down the fender and measured from a spot that was parallel from the hole center, down the rear edge of the fender, ( I just saw that Roger did his diagonally. Mine is just from a different spot. From that parallel spot to the center of the 1 3/8 dia. hole I show a dimension of 9.6875" to the center or 9' from the parallel edge.

My main diamenter hole came from a paper template I made from my old rusty fender and transferred to the newer fender. I think Chryslers tolerances will allow for both Roger's and mine locations to be used. They look pretty close to each other.

Roger - You may have discovered a future paint/rust problem by removing your mirror. Maybe somebody could suggest what to cover that area with to seal it good so moisture/water cannot get behind your paint in that area.
Brings to mind....when drilling new holes in sheet metal be sure to coat the bare metal hole edges with something to prevent rust from starting there.
When I (incorrect but I like it) put a "Sport Fury" emblem on my trunk lid I had to drill one hole and I don't recall coating edges. Think I'll recheck that

Absolutely right you are. I should get some primer or paint in there.
I remember drilling holes for the exterior stainless and telling myself I should paint all those new holes. (I don't remember if I ever did)
It's probably too late to mention, Frank, but the large diameter hole under my mirror is barely covered by my mirror, this is why I wanted someone else to send in their measurements. I dont know if the hole is too large or the mirror should have been more precicely located over the hole----------------

Thanks for the heads up Roger. I'll tell the body guy to drill a smaller hole and go from there. Unfortunately my body man did not use the template when he drilled holes for my rear antennas and used the gasket instead (after I said use the template with 1/4" holes as the directions say. Arrgghhh!
