I am cycling between terror and WTH (what the heck), contemplating my upcoming road trip to Clackamas, OR and back this weekend. A distance of 300 total miles, I do not have a credit card, and I have less than $300 in the bank. I have Hagerty Insurance which will tow me 100 miles for free, if needed. Fingers crossed, I am going for it!

Hey John,
The car is out of the garage, whitewalls cleaned, trunk loaded with whatnot, if it rains, I will probably get wet as this car has several "gaps". But the P/S reservoir is full (leak fixed?!), oil is okay, radiator has been drained and refilled, front brakes tightened. No stopping me now!
I will take pics. The Meet is Plymouth only. Tom Fox says there should be four or five '59 Plymouths there!

Pictures look great on the other thread. Glad your trip went well.
Hopefully the whinning sound was not something in the tranny from it being low on Fluid. Checking the tranny screen will be good place to start like you mentioned to see if there is any debris. Lets hope no damage occurred.
Glad you were able to get out to that show with your SF vert.

John and everybody,
You are correct, I did start a new thread on the topic of my road trip. While I did not mean to confuse folks, what's done is done.
I do not know if damage is being done to the transmission by driving it while the primary noise occurs, or when the louder, occasional noise is heard. This is an un-rebuilt tranny, one I bought from Jeff Carter in "as is" condition, having 85K on it. I don't know if I will have time to clean the filter before we leave for Ellensburg on Thursday................
