HEATER CORE FOR AC CAR.

Post by Dick Koch »

NEED HEATER CORE #1879904 FOR A FACTORY AIR CONDITIONED 59 SF. ITS SMALLER THAN THE REGULAR HEATER CORE FOR NON AC CARS. PREFERABLY ONE THAT DOESN'T LEAK, MINE DOES. MY RADIATOR GUY WILL REPAIR THIS ONE IF HE CAN FIND A CORE BUT HE DIDN'T SOUND LIKE IT WOULD BE LIKELY.

Dick, I may have one for you, I found one in my stash that is slightly smaller then the one for my non-ac car, Cann you send me a picture of the one you have and the dimensions of it. If it is the same, you are welcome to it for shipping costs.

Thanks John - This is wonderful, I didn't expect such a quick response, I will go to the radiator shop tomorrow and take some pictures.

Hi Dick-I've used a fellow on Long Island that says he can re core all heater cores. Let me know if you're that desperate and I'll dig into the archives.

Dick, I have the other one on the top of your picture as an extra.

See my pic's, the top one is the one I need for my non-ac car, the 2nd smaller one in my picture is the one I have an extra of. I will need to see what years that part was used that you need with the beveled frame work. I believe it went thru 62 or even the 63 model years which might help me to locate one in a local salvage yard.

The picture I took shows my standard non-ac heater core and the one below is the one you have in the top of your picture. I measured the smaller one in my picture as being 16 inch wide x 9 3/4 tall.

I will dig up an inter-change manual to see how many years the unit was made in to see if we can find you the one you need. You are still welcome to the smaller unit i have if you want.

John, Thanks anyway, My radiator guy tested all three for me, thank goodness the AC evaporator checked out OK, the two heater cores were no good, the larger heater core I have came out of the parts car I have, if it had tested OK I was going to put it on ebay. If you want it, it's yours, freight only. He found a core that he can use to repair the one I need, he said its from a chevy, Ugh, double Ugh, it's almost like putting a chevy 350 in a Mopar or Ford, Ugh. But I can live with it, I just won't tell anybody.

Dick, Sorry I was not able to help you out. I had both of the units in my picture pressure tested this summer. So both are ok. The larger one in my picture will go back in my car. The smaller one will go back on my basement shelf till needed by someone.

Hope you and Yvonne have a wonderful Christmas and please use sunblock with all that sunshine you get!

Ho Ho Ho! :D
