Is there an external marking anywhere on the outside of the rearend on a 59 Plymouth that indicates what gear ratio is installed in it ?. I realize if someone changed something in the past, you wouldn't know. If it was a sure grip, you could spin the wheels and count the revolutions of the yoke to get a good idea, but not on an open rear end. If there is nothing on the outside, how would you know if you had the gear set assembly out of the rear end ?. Would it be having to know how many teeth are on a specific ring gear ?. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Tim, I have the 59 Supplement in front of me and here I copy some of the info..
The Sure-Grip is a 2-piece housing, held together with 8 bolts. In addition, the letter"S" is stamped on the ratio pad on the bottom of the carrrier housing.
The Sure-Grips were available as 3.31 and 3.73 There is no tip on how to determine what ratio is inside.
The available conventional rear end ratios were as follows:
2.93, 3.31, 3.73. 3.54 and 3.91
The hands-on way to determine ratio is to put the car on jackstands and manually turn a rear wheel while counting the rotations of the driveshaft.
