Really?? That's a big lump of pig iron ! I was gonna say closer to 700lbs. Just wondering how much weight difference there was between the old drivetrain and the 360/A518 combo thats going in my car.

I will guess 450 for engine and 150 for tranny= 700#
I have a Torqueflite tranny out back, prablay going to rust, I could wiggle it onto a bathroom scale. I have never owned a 6 cyl.

By the way, Aerial110, you see John (Big M) replied to your email. He owns a salvage yard in Northern California and is a great source for parts.

I'll keep Big M in mind! I found in a Mopar engine book that a completely assembled LA motor is just shy of 500lbs. I would think that old 251 is at least that-they are a pretty thick casting(can be bored at least .100 over). The guy that bought my old motor bored it out big time and put a blower on it and its now in a dragster racing in some 6 cyl. class. The later TF's are aluminum and I think the old ones are cast iron-at least the old 3 spd. was...it had to be AT LEAST 200lbs!

Re: !Hazard a Guess!
My guess would be 600 plus being I have an engine hoist that would pick up an early Hemi engine but couldn't budge the early Big Chrysler 6 cylinder engine less a transmission.
