selling Fury Junior
selling Fury Junior
I bought a Fury Junior off Ebay two years? ago. It arrived, and I soon realised I would not be able to restore it, due to its condtion and my finances.
I was fortunate to sell it (at a loss) to a man in Sweden. I built a crate for it and began to seach for a shipping company. Finally I found one. Caution to all: it is very difficult to pin these people down to final cost...I had to pay for pick up of course but then there was teh added charge due to the fact that the crate was on sawhorses in my driveway. It would require TWO ment o put it onthe ground so that ONE person could use a pallet jack to pull it onto a liftgate truck. Then the issue of insurance came up. More money.
Finally it went east from Seattle to NY where it was put on a container ship to Copenhagen.
Arriving in Copenhagen, the paperwork got "lost"..Customs wouldn't allow it to clear.
I don't know much of teh dtails from there. but the buyer said he had to pay almost $1000 for the privilege of driving the short distance to prt to pick it up.
"Daniel" the buyer, has two young children whao are very excited to ride thsi car. He is going to get my leftover seat upholstery so that he can dress up the interior.

Re: selling Fury Junior
Roger, I have had the same problems with shippers in the past. 'Mystery charges' and the like. I sold some bumpers to a customer in Canada, and nearly three months later I got a bill for Brokerage fees that the customer had refused to pay, better than sixty dollars.
Another time, I had gotten a quote of seven hundred dollars from Yellow Freight to ship a '57 Ford front clip to New York. When it arrived, the price suddenly had risen to $1700, with no explanation of why. My customer was furious, and rightfully so. I finally bellyached enough to Yellow Freight that the bill was dropped to $1100, and I and my customer split the difference in the extra cost. I dropped Yellow Freight from my list of shippers at that point. ---John
