Dan - My headliner panel boards are in pretty good shape so I plan on painting them with SEMS white vinyl paint. It worked very well on the door panels of my 60 Desoto.

Well, I went over to Jersey today to visit the interior guy. His estimate, using my material: $1500!

Fowgedabowdit. I called Ed Ober's friend -- the one who rescued my door panels -- and, though he's very busy, he agreed to make new panels for me and cover them with my material, if I bring the existing panels to him. So, that's what I'm going to do -- and install them myself.

If you get the material I am sure Matthew and Andre can fix your headliner for less than $1500. with the right material it isn't that much work, it can be done within a day! I wonder what this headliner guy is making per hour.

Ron, I'm going to try to do it myself with ABS plastic, using one side of the headliner cardboard as the template for both sides. (The center part will be easy.) The trick will be in molding the abs into the rear corners with a heat gun... If I screw it up, so what? I'm out a few bucks, I can alway get it redone. I think I'm gonna dive into it...

Ordered the ABS plastic, and bought a heat gun. I think I'll pick up a handheld jigsaw to help with the cutting... The ABS comes in 4'x8' sheets, they're cutting me four panels of 2'x5'. So I can experiment with molding the corner with the scrap pieces, and I'll have a full panel in case I ruin one. I have one can of 3M 90 Spray Adhesive -- I think I'll pick up another, 'cause I don't want to scrimp on that.

Anyone have recommendations for something I can pick up at Home Depot, to glue to the roof as insulation? I'm not going to do the velcro thing -- ABS is extremely rigid, I don't expect any significant sag with it.

Dan - Pepboys has roll of insulation with Aluminum facing on both sides. That's what I'm going to put in my car. You can also buy 1/2", 3/4" x 4' x 8' insulation sheets at Home Depot.

I went to Home Depot to get a small jigsaw for cutting the ABS... Heat gun, jigsaw, ABS, headliner material -- this is starting to add up. Perhaps I'll quit my day job and go into making headliners

I've been to two Pep Boys now, and a Strauss Auto -- and I can't find this insulation. Seems to me I've seen it around, though... The insulation sheets at Home Depot are too thick, I think, and not flexible enough.

I didnt know ABS was available in sheets. (ABS is what residential drainpipe is made of)
You arent speaking of plexiglass, right?
I have a roll of insulation here...aluminized on one side, looks like jute on the other. maybe 3/16" thick. Bought it at Portland Swap meet years ago...
MM's headliner is $200 each panel , (shipping extra, frustration no charge?)
