I ordered and mounted one of those gaskets with the ports blocked on mine.

Post some pics of your car when you can. Still an amazing car and a fantastic journey

For the few that are on this site there is A L O T of talent!! I hang on another site as well BCA (Buick club) way more members ( about 7,000) but nothing like this one. You have age(SORRY DICK), experience, web master to keep things going,and "across the pond as well". Looks great John!! Love it. Mark

I've now put 11,000 miles on this car since completion.

Just south of us there is a big car show just before Halloween every year, it usually draws 300 hot rods and classics, but this year rain was forecast and many stayed home. It was clear on the drive there, and rain didn't hit until a couple hours into the show, so people had time to look the cars over. Small crowd, just 60 or so cars. A few even left when the rain started!

I was surprised to be awarded People's choice award, meaning that the '59 will be on all next year's T-shirts at the show.

Yes John, it's beautiful and the cars looks and your hard work deserve the award. Next year l want two tee shirts, ex. Large. Let me know the cost.

John, tell me more about how you did this. Mine's not damaged, but I'd like to remove it, rustproof and get it painted separately. Did you remove the heads of the spot welds from the rear of the car forward, or from the front of the car rearwards? Can you provide a pic of the burr bit you used?

Dan - When l restored Charlene that rear splash piece was toast, l cut it off with a body knife. I got a replacement from John Fowlie, drilled holes where the spot welds were and bolted it to the body with 10/24 or 10/32 x 1/2" hex head cap screws sourced from Ace Hdwe. A body knife is a piece of hardened Steele approx, 1-1/4" x 14" designed to cut spot welds along a seam when struck with a 4 lb. Maul.

Hmmm... My rear splash is in very good shape. I think it likely that I will bang it up if I smack the spot welds with a body knife. Is it worth it? Perhaps I should just let it be.
