Re: DICK'S 59 RED & WHITE SPORT FURY RESTORATION.
Thanks Curt, just let me know when. You will see a typical messy & cluttered garage.

This putting back together is the fun part. I'm redoing the stainless trim because I did it originally in 2006 and it was the first time I did any stainless dent repair and polishing, I did an awful job so am redoing. Installed the package tray, found the imbossed Fury on ebay, painted it red and installed it to fit above back seat. Installed rear speaker, Got the welting in, color matches pretty good, got it from restoration specialties at Turkey Run in Daytona. Finished the trunk lid and hood, got the trunk lid installed. filled the insulated spaces on underside of trunk lid with heavy cardboard that was behind back seat because I installed a new one from Gary Goers. The hood insulation is also from Gary Goers along with the rubber strip at rear of hood. Also installed all the moulding in interior and getting ready to install outer drip rail moulding. Pictures will follow.

Re: DICK'S 59 RED & WHITE SPORT FURY RESTORATION.
OK, heas som mo! Got all the inside trim installed including the visors and dash pad. I did not have a metal strip to send to Just dashes so had to improvise the installation. The holes in the dash are rectangular for a special spring clip, I used regular spring clips and JB welded them on the pad (John Q's suggestion) so they were oriented to clip in the holes and not twist. I carefully marked the underside of the pad where the holes were and made sure they were positioned correctly, walla, it worked the pad snapped in perfectly with a snug fit against the dash, no glue. Put the chrome strip at the bottom, trimed excess vinyl and it came out pretty good. The red Just Dashes painted it was to dark as is the carpet so I painted the dash a bright red, it almost matches and I will be ordering a bright red cut pile carpet. I installed another 1/2" thick insulated pad over the eastwood sound and heat barrier that will act as a cushion for the carpet. Got the left rear window to close all the way, used silicon grease, it's still tight as a tick but it works. Installed Gary Goers beauty boards in the trunk, they fit perfectly, used the carpet that was in the trunk before, it's cut pile and in very good shape. The aluminum deck lid insert had a very deep and ugly water stain in the bottom area, to get it out took a lot of sanding including the entire brushed area, it's smooth now so I polished it, it now looks like stainless steel, will have to keep it polished. The Step plates were awful, it took two days to sand and polish them.

Dick, Is the front bumper just positioned there for the photo? To my eyes, the wings tip up too much towards the rear. I think they are supposed to be more or less level. Could it be your front bumper brackets have gotten bent, maybe from a tow truck? Otherwise, the car is fabulous in every way!

Roger - I noticed that myself, I'll try some washers and maybe that'l even it up. The fender skirts rubber gaskets were stapled on, I took them off to paint, I drilled the holes 1/16" then took some galvanized mechanics wire bent it over the shank of a wrench that was the right width, threaded into the holes, crimped it over and walla it worked.

Dick,
Your car looks great. I like the Fender Skirts; in fact I ran them many years as a 50's custom look before I changed wheels!
Tell me about JB Weld... Are the clips Glued to vinyl with the JB Weld? I heard of JB Weld for Metal but never used the product.
Keep smore pictas coming!!!

Re: DICK'S 59 RED & WHITE SPORT FURY RESTORATION.
JB weld is a two part epoxy that dries rock hard, it's machinable and will bond anything. I cut a small portion of the vinyl dashpad so the clip would fit a tad lower and after marking the holes and measuring precisely I place the clips into the JB weld and let set for two days. When I placed the clips over the holes they were right on and the pad snapped right in and fit snug to the dash. It's the same material I applied to the rusty area with rust holes that were under the door gasket. It layed out smooth and flat. My vent window frames are broken at the bottom rear where it connects to the upright, I plan on trying to fix that with JB Weld. I'll send pictures of that process. John Q. is the one that gave me the idea of using JB Wels. Patience and luck plays a big part.

I love the new drivers' seat. Must have been expensive!!!
Re: DICK'S 59 RED & WHITE SPORT FURY RESTORATION.

Dick, They don't make plastic buckets likek they used too.... I would need two, one for each cheek!
I also like the fender skirts and that is a great Idea about cutting off the staples and then using the Mechanic wire to re apply the gasket back down to the skirts. The skirts are great! One day run with them and if you want them off...take them off and run with out them. Mood sensitive skirts!
