Being it is one bank and you have a dual plane manifold...I suspect your intake is loose/leaking at the head on that bank. Even if from the crankcase side,

I think I found the culprit, John hit the nail on the head. I found this on the garage floor after I came back from Carlisle. It is A small piece of x mat in the shape of A drop, the size of A quarter. Must get hot and melt from some exposed area near the exhaust and drip out. I put it in under the carpet when I did the car. The car got hot from idling too long and A small amount dripped on the hot pipe and smoked, I thought it smelled like burned rubber !!! Mark
