I didn't get any help, when I went looking here... Sorry.

All Mopars in this era use a crank bolt that has a 1 1/4" hex.

Thanks Mark, I'll go ahead and buy a new larger socket set including a 1.25". I found some where else online that said it was a 1.25" on a truck poly motor so that should be correct.

Ted; John confirmed it, he would know for sure. Dan, I like the motor exploded view. Mark

Yeah. That's kinda how Ron Keij's motor looks right now

1.25" doesn't fit, seems like it's too small. The bolt isn't in good condition either. Gonna clean it up and try again.

Wow, that's A dirty one. Try A wire ball. Maybe tink in the center of the bolt to loosen some, and place the socket to what feels to fit and lightly tink the socket on. Needs cleaned up for sure. Good luck, Mark

Put #7 piston to TDC, ran compressed air through spark plug hole and I could hear it coming out of the exhaust (I also listened at carb, oil fill and radiator but only heard from exhaust). So what's next? Pull the head and fix the exhaust valve problem on that cylinder?

Earlier you said
bustionironi wrote:I removed the valve cover and spun the motor a few times. The valve springs were moving up and down including the #7 which has no compression.
I was going to say, check for a broken spring or missing retainers - but it seems more and more like your problems are on the inside. You're also a little low on #1, correct? If you're going to pull one head, it makes sense to pull them both. Just my $0.02.

Guess it's time to pull the heads and check them out. is there a thread with all the specs and what not for these factory heads?

Well, there's a thread about rebuilding a 318 right next door... You can put any questions you may have to Matthew. If he doesn't know, he can find out for you.
