I have a request in at the Forward Look site for anyone to take some engine shots of that 396 mile 59 plymouth that is for sale this week at the Mecum auction in Kissimime, Florida

That would shed some light maybe on the valve covers. It is on the Mecum web site. Lot F267 and the picture on the Mecum web site shows siver block and silver valve covers red intake. 318 cu.in. Engine.

My Bride of 25+ years suggested I post the direct link to help others look at this 59 Plymouth Fury at Mecum so here it is! It is scheduled to go off at 8 PM East Coast time. If you miss it. Velocity Channel is running each days activites over and over.

I posted the actual picture too besides the link.

Unless you are trying to get 100 points from a Judged Show, I think I speak for us all when I say paint it silver and be proud.

I agree with Roger, paint them silver.
In John Q's picture, what's the gen doing on that side? Did some come like that? I got 3 '59's here and the generators are on the other side.

Kinda curious about that 396 miles. According to info, it sounds like car had 2 owners and neither one of them drove it. Gotta dig up that article that was in Old Cars Weekly. Maybe that'll shed some light.

Velocity Channel.....I got about 3 to 400 channels here and never heard of that one. Gotta investigate.

Velocity used to be a month ago HD Theatre but they changed their name to the new 'Velocity'.

Look up what channel you have that shows "Chasing Classic Cars' with Wayne Carini and that will be the Velocity channel.

John Z. my 1960 413 RB has the Generator on that same location but I also have the dealer installed AC package that came on that motor that has the AC compressor in the old Generator location.

Doesn't explain it but just another example. I do have picutures of other peoples Forward Look cars with no ac on it and the Generator in the same position of that low milleage Plymouth. Wierd...

This is the first '59 P I've ever seen with gas heater option..interesting! i don't have my Shop manual out...maybe gas heater option required the generator to be re-located?
The "careful re-paint" resulted in the hood hinge springs going to body color (oops).

It's not because of the instant gas heater.

I googled Velocity Channel and one link said it's targeted toward "affluent men". I guess we know who the affluent guy on here is :D

I looked it up on my Charter cable program and in my area it's channel 706. I clicked on that and it said "Not Authorized".

In that engine photo, it appears to me to have a few more hoses and wiring amongst it than normal, anyway compared to mine.

Matthew,
You posted an interesting photo.
What should I be seeing?
I see a generator on driver's side.
Do you have any idea if this is (or was) another gas heater car?

Matthew, that heater box housing on the Mecum car is not a hot water heater only, not an AC/hot water Heater combo housing, it must be the instant heat system with the extra space shroud on the front of the heater box.
