That darn water can get into/behind all the trim we have on our cars. Sometimes, after washing my car I take a leaf blower and blow the water off. You would be amazed at all the water that comes out from behind the stainless trim and everywhere else. Next time you wash your car, dry it off with a towel and then use leaf blower and watch all that trapped water come out.
I have a friend with a '71 Dodge Charger Super Bee and he will not wash his car with water. He keeps it covered between drives and then cleans it up with a detailer liquid.

I have a distant cousin who lives in a Dodge Super Bee and never washes with water either....We don't invite him to thanksgiving either!
