Twin antennas
Twin antennas
I am seeking info on installing twin antennas on a sport fury. I have not been able to find a good pic showing the location and angle of the antennas. It seems to me that they are going to be angled towards the outside because the deck is not flat where they will be mounted. I wonder if that's correct. I'm just trying to avoid drilling 2 big holes in the wrong place! Any help would be appreciated. blip37@yahoo.com

You might miss it, as I did, by scrolling too fast. Go to the third post down, and there you will find a pdf file attached to that. The pdf contains the template.
Good luck!

Re: Twin antennas
The CORRECT antenna bases are thicker on the outside edge than the inside edge to compensate for the angle of the deck.

I can confirm that, the left and right one have different part numbers also!Dick Koch wrote:The CORRECT antenna bases are thicker on the outside edge than the inside edge to compensate for the angle of the deck.

Re: Twin antennas
Hey, Thanks guys...apparently I don't have the correct antennas, the perils of ebay. Anybody know of a source for the real things?
Re: Twin antennas
Dennie Turner was an antenna specialist, and used to re-mast the correct bases, but sadly, he has passed away.
Perhaps his business still goes on, however. Maybe try Googling his name?

Roger,
I tried Dennie Turner but he had no more antennae for the 59's. I found mine on Ebay for a reasonable price but most of the prices I see are outrageous! I know one of our members has one to trade, he has two lefts or two rights, John Q come in please

Re: Twin antennas
Ron, I am in the traffic pattern, downwind for Runway 26 Left....Yes I have two of one part number. I will dig them out to see what side I have two of. If someone has the two of the ones I am missing...Then we can swap!
Now to dig them out. Spend all day on my 59 and will finish the passenger floor welding in tomorrow! Yeah!

Re: Twin antennas
If I read it right, from the Parts Book:
1838 162, 1838 163.
Interesting to discover that a front fender power antenna was an option.

Re: Twin antennas
A last resort may be to possibly fabricate a gasket out of a suitable material, that will conform to the slope or angle of the car where antennae is attached so they will stand straight and not "lean" outward.
