Canadian Plymouths, Dodges
Canadian Plymouths, Dodges
I've always been intrigued with the 1959 Canadian Plymouths and Dodges.
In 1959, Dodge offered the Viscount, which for us Statesiders, was a 1959 Dodge front clip fitted to a 1959 Plymouth body, with Plymouth dash and Deluxe steering wheel.
I've also always thought the 4 door Hardtop had a great roof line.
So now I see a 1959 Dodge Viscount for sale up in Canada. It hasn't run in many years, but the engine is not stuck. There is a lot of rust showing on the drivers side. The owner is not responding to my inquiries. The asking price is $1500 CN, or best offer.
Since I owe the IRS, and several others, it is painfully obvious I will not be acquiring this car!

Roger, the IRS are kind understanding people and I am sure they will let you slide on your temporary shortage with them and just "catch you later" on the $1500 you would spend on this car.
Maybe if you buy this car for them they will wipe the slate clean....
( I did not want to put any negative comments about them in case they were watching this thread.... You know big brother etc! then I would be looked at) PS Hide your car so they won't claim it! You can put it in my garage for safe keeping!
I also like the Mayfair style of Plymouths bodies with De Soto front clips, But the Viscount is cool too!

Hey Dick,
I have gotten rusty on export models. You provided a link to a Dodge Regent 2-dr sedan.
I was drooling over a Dodge Viscount 4 HT. Do you know how the series went for '59?
I suppose I can find the info on-line or in my files, but I am feeling lazy!
John Q mentions a Mayfair...that was Plymouth, or Dodge?

Re: Canadian Plymouths, Dodges
I was wrong......The Mayfair is a Dodge front end (I thought it was a De Soto front clip...) and Plymouth Body. I just saw a real nice one on the Forward Look Site. http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forum ... 15&start=1
It's in super shape!

Re: Canadian Plymouths, Dodges
Roger, on a separate needs, I am starting to put some items back on the Convert and there are few parts I may need help on. I may have to send you some dollars (not Monopoly money!) to copy the section pages out of the parts service catalog.
My version (dated in sept of 58) only has one page on converts and I saw it some previous threads you had more pages on converts.
I will take some pictures of some of the parts to see if you can identify them. Some may be std. 59 parts but I know there is some convert parts that I can't for the life of me remember where they go.
I will send you the pictures on Saturday when I get time to shoot them.
thanks!

Re: Canadian Plymouths, Dodges
Dick, some nice "Iron" down in Florida. Are they rust buckets prettied up or solid machines? Not Cheap, but not out of this world either. (it is for me, but I talk tough!)

Re: Canadian Plymouths, Dodges
John - I really don't know about rust buckets, I do know he takes some cars on assignment to sell. I saw that regent in Daytona a couple years ago at Turkey Rod Run and it seemed to be a nice "Driver" or mid range #3. I have not seen any of the cars he sells up close but as always no matter the price or age they all need close inspection. Just like us.

Re: Canadian Plymouths, Dodges
Dick, I was just kidding on the rust buckets comment. They look like very nice cars for sale. Not like a corner used car lot but a well marketed place for vintage cars. Just my saterical humor coming out.
I have to put LOL after some of my comments. Don't want people to think my snooty wit is shinning thru! LOL (see it does work!) LOL There I go again!
