Just Surfin Around The Web

Post by savvy59 »

Hi everyone,

Two interesting shots from the Web today.

Not sure what year the first car is - 1958?

I wonder if this was really functional at some point or attempted later in life and never really finished?

This makes it appear Plymouth sales in 1959 were really strong!

Matthew, you have a real eye! There was a TV movie, and a TV series. Here's a wiki link to the series:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_Story_(TV_series)

Apparently there is no link to the TV movie (yet). Was this snapshot from the TV movie, or the series? Was this just an isolated picture (i.e., did it only appear this once), or was it driven by someone routinely? I can get the series on DVD, but if this is an isolated picture, it would help to know the name of the episode... I'd like to capture the clip for Ephemera!

Hi Matthew: Just going through some old posts here and found this one. That copper colored Sport Fury with the "Sport Fury" on the trunk is mine. (Wis License #69041D, that's me :D ) I was parked outside the Quik Trip Gas Station in Wausau, WI on the way to a car show. It's where I meet up with a couple of other guys. It had to be the summer of '08 or '09. I remember seeing a fellow out there taking pictures. Do you remember where you happened to find this picture?

Kinda funny.....I thought to myself... that car kind of looks like mine. Then I said, "it is mine".
I got that emblem off of a '65 Sport Fury, I think. I had holes in the trunk lid from a missing dealer emblem so used them for the emblem. I take the car to about 10-12 car shows a year and nobody knows that emblem does not belong there.

If you look closely, just above my passenger side roof you'll see the top of a red old antique restored 1950's gas pump. The guy that runs the station has a bunch of that good stuff on display.
