Wagons, Ho!

Post by big m »

I really think that there is a hidden assembly plant somewhere up north that is still producing '59 Plymouth wagons. I have recently picked up three, all of which are pretty solid cars. Here are pics of two of them.---John

Roger, these were about 70 miles from here, near the town of Cohasset, up in the mountains.

A fellow that follows the Grateful Dead around the country used to tour in these cars, before moving up to the hills. These are in better condition than most wagons I run across.

I'm not sure why so many '59's seem to have survived, I believe I now have about eight wagons, not including the airport limo. ---John

Roger, Cohasset is just North of the college town Chico. There are only a hundred or so residents, so it may not show up in your search.

I'd love to get that airporter roadworthy for a trip to Carlisle, but I seriously doubt that I will have the extra money to do so. If you come down for the WPC meet in Sacramento, I do have the '58 Dodge wagon, and the '57 Fury that are roadworthy. ---John

Ah yes, I would HAVE to factor in time to visit you if I can get something together to make it to Sac'to.
Are you offering any of the wagons for sale? Or are they only for parts?
I also would like to ask you if you are trying to get any cars out of SoCal...that father-son collection in Colton? (I always forget their last names). The guys who are losing their storage yard...If so, it would be so ironic...I remember when Paul Zerbarini of SF kept his restorable car collection near you...then the farmer wanted tham gone, so I was able to buy a 59 Windsor 2HT which donated a windshield, power windows and power seat to my Plymouth project. The rest of his cars went south to the Corona yard.

I will be selling both of the pictured cars complete, somewhere in the range of $3000 each. Both have pretty solid floors and bodies, the silver wagon is a poly 318, and the turquoise one was a '361, although the engine is gone. I have a clear title for the silver one, but have to get the paperwork cleared on the other.

I have spoken to Gary Grossich regarding their parts cars, but with the transport, they were cost prohibitive to haul 400 miles. I understand they have moved most of the cars, and gotten rid of the remainder. Paul Zebarini has found me several good parts cars that would have gone to the crusher otherwise, he has been a customer here for several years. I caravanned with him and Nick Nichols to the SF Friendship Day show last spring, they are nice folks. ---John
