Selling a 1959 Plymouth 50 years ago

Hi all,

Recently I bought a complete set of Ross Roy film strips and records with a projector/record player. I tried digitizing a film strip and the result isn't bad, it is not a complete movie but it gives you an idea what is coming soon Personally I love the movie and the comments.

This is part of strip/record #4 about the accessories of the 1959 Plymouth and the salesman is talking to a guy that just flew in from Mars with his spaceship

I loved that filmstrip. Boy, that really takes me back to my school days...the "plink" sound to prompt one to advance the film...
Was there any credit given to the voice-over actors? The Martian character's voice is very familiar...

Roger, I am with you on the Martian voice. I beleive it is a well know character actor from the 50's and 60's with that Wise guy "New Yawk" voice. I will have to look at some old 50's and 60's films to see I can get a name. I remember him in some old WWII movies made in that era. Guess I will have to spend some research time on You Tube......

The main speaker sounds like the guy who use to do the Educational Films we all saw in K-12 School. Or at least it is close to that type of voice....

Sorry, there are no credits given on the records. And it must be a famous guy as he sounds familiar to me too, and I was born in the sixties. Of course at that time we were 10 years behind with everything

I will try to improve the quality of the film and the sound next Sunday and post the whole film on YouTube. And maybe even a second movie, it is time consuming but I really enjoy it and I am glad you guys like it too. Maybe I will make a DVD with all six movies and bring a copie with me to Carlisle for all 59 owners. I also have two older Plymouth movies (57 and one from the early 50's) without the records and two 59 Desoto movies and records.

I felt I knew the voice as well.

It's not Buddy, and it's not Jerry Lewis. There was a guy who did that "Joisey" (new Jersey) accent..I will ask around.

The voice of the Martian was done by the late Arnold Stang. Sorry I called it a joisey accent...its an over-the-top Brooklyn accent!

Thanks Roger! I loved Top Cat as a kid! I thought he was also in the MMMW, but all the clips I went thru last night didnot show him or his voice. Good Research!

My father has a Washington Heights accent (Manhattan) , thou not squeaky at all, so I also thought he was from one of the Boroughs of NYC not Jersery.
