Where are the '59's?!
Where are the '59's?!
Is it me? Is my eBay query busted?
I save pix and postings from '59 Plymouths for sale on eBay, but I haven't seen one for sale in weeks. Plenty of Christine wannabes and rusted hulks, but no '59's. Whassup widdat?

Dan, 1959 :"Milestone" Plymouths cars are finally all bought up by shrewd investors and devoted collectors. They are either in Forum members hands or in Museums. There is now a wait list for M series cars! Line forms to the rear!

Re: Where are the '59's?!
My son has a 1959 Plymouth Fury that he wants to sell. Can anyone tell me how I determine a selling price for it? It is white with white vinyl interior and has swivel seats. The inside is in great condition, not at all like one I saw pictured being sold on Ebay. My son's father was the second owner and the previous owner only had a few thousand miles on it. When his father bought it all he did was drive it in a couple of parades so obviously the mileage is still low. Is there anyone out there who can tell me what information I need to gather up so I can determine what I can reasonably sell it for? Please email me at brittlstar@aol.com. Thank you so much.

Finally, a '59 Plymouth shows up on eBay. And it's a '59 Sport Fury!
...um, wait... No it's not, although it's represented as one:

Hmm -- looks familiar.

What a memory you have, Dan!
I do not recall viewing this car, nor my email response!
Are you gonna ask him to correct his ad?
The one from Hollywood sold for 13K, which surprised me.
Let us know how this auction goes.

Roger, I did ask him to correct -- and he acknowledged. Now, to see if he actually does... BTW, Bill Glidden is still the owner:

Dear gracie1202,
Hi -- this is a beautiful Fury. However, there is a difference between a Fury and a Sport Fury -- this is not a Sport Fury. Please correct the advertisement.

It's been corrected -- Bill informed me his daughter in law put up the ad for him, and he had her fix it.

Re: Where are the '59's?!
All,
Just for my own information - did the Fury model have swivel seats as an option, or did the Sport Fury hold that honor all by itself?
Are these seats swivel or just a split bench?
Okay, not to be picky, but...
Did anyone but me noticed in the pictures that there does not appear to be even gap lines anywhere on this car?
Even from the distant shots the driver's door gaps at the closure, the passenger door gaps severly at the front fender as well as the hood seams are higher than the front fenders. I am guessing this car has been apart at some time for an accident or restoration and just not put back together properly.
I know I have no room to talk...my car is far from perfect but at least my gaps appear even.
I must be having a critical Tuesday - I am not trying to offend anyone - this could be a great purchase for the right buyer.

Re: Where are the '59's?!
Hi Curt,
The swivel seat was Standard in Sport Fury, optional in all others.
This particular car APPEARS to have the swivel option.
I have to agree with you on certain things:
The exterior-of-car-shots are all LONG view, so you can't really evaluate its condition.
(IS that a rust spot behind the drivers front fender?)
I DID notice the hood stood up higher than the fenders, and knew something wasn't right there.
I noticed the pass door gap, but it didnt alarm me. I can't see gaps on the drivers door.
The trunk stainless doesnt line up, but neither does my car's.
Why was the car recently thoroughly undercoated? A cover up job?
I am gonna guess that the owners are an "older" couple. I assumed that the house seen in the backround is their place. The ad reads like it was written solely by the daughter-in-law, thus a bit of exaggeration has crept in to the description..
The engine compartment appears extremely clean which is a plus.
The trunk lip shows no sign of rust. In the earlier post to Dan he admitted there was some rust around the windshield.
