Inside rear view mirror location

Post by Nighthawk »

When i got my Plym in 2004 one of the things about it was was that the inside rear view mirror was mounted up top, not on the dash as it was supposed to be and someone told me at that time that because its a Canadian car, it was put there, i found out later on that a lot of people dont like the mirror being there and so probably the owner of it at that time had it changed.
So, i decided to put it back where its supposed to be.......
I got a inside mirror off of ebay awhile back, then i forgot about it until tonight when i was going thru some things in the garage, and since i had to take out the radio to see what was wrong with it, (which i fixed fine) i decided to put this mirror on.....
While now it looks like its supposed to, man its hard to get used to it isnt it??
Do you guys find that you get used to its location after awhile?
I read awhile back in an old Popular Science mag some reviews of the 59 cars, and one of the complaints for 59 Plymouths was the inside mirror location, there was an editors note saying that "Plymouth owners have complained about this since 1957"
Any comments will be appreciated!

The only problem I ever have noticed with the mirror location, is that the adjustment can change with road vibration or potholes. ---John

imho mirror on dash is great. One of my daily drivers is an Explorer and that mirror creates a blind spot, (I have to look under it) whereas mirror on dash on my '59 does not). I say Detroit (or?) should bring back the on dash mirror and push button tranny. (and fins) :D
