The Winter of My Discontent
The Winter of My Discontent
Well, the good news is that the trenches are finished, the rebar is set, the inspector has come out and approved, and we are ready to pour.
...except, it is snowing heavily here now. The week ahead doesn't look all that good weatherwise; however, the contractor had the good sense this time to put down tarps over the yard.
I know that, once the foundation is poured, they can go like gangbusters; block, joists, roof, deck, garage door -- and they're all lined up, too. I just... can't get a break, weatherwise.
On top of that, I've got a bad head cold. Nothing to do now, but nurse my Manhattan... and wait, for winter's departure.

Winter IS tough..your photos show that you are in good hands..just need a weather break. how many Philly folk traditionally wxpect to pour concrete in February?
Living in the Seattle area, I should be by now accustomed to crappy winter weather..but every year I get a bit more impatient for the clouds to clear and the sun to appear. I will be flying to Los Angeles (paid by others) for a long weekend in late March..hope to catch some rays and warmth there.

I guess somebody has to live in the colder climes. I tell you, year round car shows can sometimes interfere with restoration projects. Oh well, I guess I'll have to live with it. Except for ocassional hurricanes (we all have our distractions) living in paradise ain't half bad. Our snowbirds are really old car buffs and collectors that come down to go to our car shows because they can't get thier old cars out of the garage. I'ts tought down here with the heat and all but a visit to the beach helps. Now that I have throughly pissed you eskimos off I better let it rest.

A window of opportunity! The sun is out, it's mild both today and overnight -- possible rain tonight, but after three hours he can cover it, which should prevent leaching. It's a go -- I'm so excited! Pictures to come! I can see myself tinkering in the cool garage now, while Dick swelters under the blazing Florida sun...
