Hey Dan and Ron,
The Dell unit arrived yesterday and I picked it up today. WOW! It feels like Christmas (oh yeah, it IS Christmas)!
I really don't know how to begin..I took it out of the box and found a power cord to use..what's next? Seems like I need to get a second keyboard and mouse, set both units up side-by-side and begin the switch-over.
What is the Ribbon connector for?

Isn't this a topic for "Tech Support" forum
The ribbon connector is the extra connection for the CD writer I guess. Maybe your nephew will know what to do with it, if not I am sure we can find on line instructions for you, I do know a site that explains it without tech talk but unfortunately it is all in Dutch
You don't need an extra keyboard and mouse, just burn the files you want to transfer on a CD and when you are done you connect the keyboard and mouse to the Dell. When you insert the CD (s) in the CD player you can transfer the files to the new computer. This won't work for programs, if you want to install you need the software on CD or download it from the internet. When you email me a list with the programs you need I can give you links where you can download them
But before you can download the computer must be connected and configured for internet use. That may be the hardest part of the job, but sometimes it is really easy and it will work when you connect the cable.

Yup -- that's correct. Remember to show your nephew (or whoever helps you) my note about the second IDE port on the computer.
