carburetor confusion
carburetor confusion
To Ed Eckerson and all,
The Plymouth 361 Golden Commando left the factory with a Carter AFB single four barrel carb. According to the Standard Catalog of Cars, the carb # is 2813S. (Also used on the 318 w/ Powerpak).
I have two two 4v carbs here at the house, a 2856S, and a 3105S. When I went in to the auto parts store yesterday to buy a rebuild kit for the 2856S, I was told (and I saw in their book) that the 2856S is the correct one for the Sport Fury.
I also was told (and saw in their book) that the 3105S was for Suburbans. Neither of these carbs appears in the Standard Catalog. Although I trust their parts book more than I trust the Standard Catalog (because the parts folks are in the business of selling the right parts),
does anyone have any independent confirmation of the CORRECT carb # for the Golden Commando? We all know Ed is going w/ 2x4s, but maybe his exhausting research turned up evidence of which the factory used? What do you Golden Commando owners have on your cars?
-Roger-
