My edsel

Post by batmobile »

guess i am the proud new owner of one very used '58 edsel pacer. i started out the bidding, and i accidently won, didn't figure i would! i still have to pay for it, but i'm trying to get ahold of the seller to work out the details first. it has some glass broken out, hopefully the rust isn't too bad, but i am figuring the floor is a total loss. i will probably have to butter up john to see if he can give me some good prices for the glass. :D the price was okay, $499, i don't know if it's got a title. the seller wasn't that responsive to questions. anybody register a car with no title? how hard is it? the car has been off the road since '66 (hopefully the hubs ain't seized and she'll still roll  ).--jeremy

you are indeed brave..Edsels are cool , esp if you get the steering wheel mounted trans shifter. I've been told Titling a car depends on the state you live in...some states do not accept the titles sold over the Internet..I believe in WA State, you must apply for lost title..and wait a few years to see if anyone else claims the car.

Hi Jeremy, Is the Edsel you bought in California? If so, I can help you get a clear title for it. ---John

no, :( texas car --south of dallas(picking it up when i get back to OK). i will have to find out, think i may check the web for OK title info, well let u know if i find out anything. edsel is automatic, unsure engine size. don't see any handle, so i think it is push button, not sure, will find out when i pick it up. d/s glass and rear glass is busted, hope not too bad of rust damage. i don't recall ever seeing an edsel at a car show. only ones i've seen is a local body shop in my home town had 2 (i believe) '59 sedans. i think '58 is the best year. i think it is another cool orphan.--jeremy

Your '58 Pacer should have the 361 cubic inch engine, which is in the FE engine family-[like a 390] Most '58's sold were equipped with the push button trans, with the controls in the center of the wheel, although a three speed manual was also available. If you wish to do a bit of research on the car, I have about 15 '58's here for you to look over.---John
