power steering

Post by batmobile »

mine had none so what i would like to do is take one out of a scrapped mopar. what years will have the gearbox i am looking for? all of them i can find r on the engine crossmember and not on the frame. any help would be greatly appreciated. also looking for front sway bar. saw '73 or so gran fury coupe with one that would work with little to no modifications to original suspension. it looked pretty small didn't have measure but eye-ball says about 1/2". can i find thicker? what on? i do not wish to replace lower control arms so one like the above mentioned car(ends attach to umm..the control arm strut?; front of control arm to frame behind bumper)would be great. thanx again 4 any assistance in this matter.

is there no one that can help me? i can't be the only person that does it the poor-boy way and use junk-yard parts.

I have never done a steering conversion on a '59 other than the stock set-up, you're welcome to look at some I have here if you think you could get some ideas from those. What engine do you have in your car? ---John

currently the 230 i-6, but v-8 will go in there when completed. just need the gearbox, will use the pump off of donor motor. still planning on using a used 5.7 hemi (if i can find one $1500 or less). thanx, i may take u up on that offer. i was told today that i should recieve a check within the next few days, so maybe i will have a couple of dollars to spend. not much at best, but hopefully it will get me by.

You may benefit from signing onto the ForwardLook Site..there are several Mopar-savvy members there who know how to borrow from this, and this bolts onto that...frankly, this SF site is mostly visited by folks just trying to keeptheir 1959 machines original and operable.
