Transmission identification

Post by Speedfreak1984 »

I've looked as much as I can. I can't seem to figure out how to decode these numbers on my transmission. They are stamped upside down on the passenger side.

Gotta love the parts manual for our 59s! I spend a lot of time reading through it ha! As Dan highlighted, looks like you have the high-performance TF to go with the big block and performance rear end! What score on your SF!

But since you have the trans out already gotta ask the question if your going for a bone stock original or if you are going to hop it up significantly. Your stock trans can be beefed up a bit,guy to talk to about that is Fury Jim Rawa. Or if your going to swap to a later model aluminum case TF (and she'd a few hundred pounds of cast iron dead weight!) there are some great threads on here and on forwardlook.net on how to do that.

Keep us posted on your progress :D
