I'm back

Post by Forward Look Frank »

Hello All,
Well, I'm starting over on the Fury! Just got it down to the bodyshop today. Time for new floors, new trunk floor, complete strip down, etc. Have a few questions....
From the factory.....
What color was the floor and trunk floor? Was it blue/gray or was it black? I seem to remember they were suppose to be gray but I could be wrong.
What color is used for under the hood itself? Was it body color or a flat primer red?
Anyone have a good source for window channel?
How about a good source for a windshield gasket?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Good to be back in the game. Well, have to run. Talk with y'all later.

Hey Frank - welcome back. Was wondering where you were. Can't answer any of your above questions, I'm color blind :P Got a question for you though. I think I asked you this once before....I have a am/fm/cd in my glove box and operate it with a remote. I have to have glove box open to do this. One time you told me I could puchase some sort of device and install it out of site somewhere and then I could have glove box closed and aim my remote at this device. I asked a guy here at Radio Shack about this and he seemed to not know anything. Would you have a name for this device so they would know what I'm talking about. John Z

Frank, there was quite a bit of discussion about this on forwardlook.net -- I'd check the archives. My recollection is that they got in the habit of mixing together leftover paint and spraying trunks with that, it always came out grayish... Could be apocryphal, but it seems reasonable! Don't know about the floor or other areas you mentioned, though. If I find the thread on forwardlook, I'll post it here.

Good to see you back!

Frank - Before I replaced my floor carpeting, I cleaned floor by wire brushing and lacquer thinner. Then I applied POR 15 to whole floor. I had only a few spots of surface rust but covered whole floor anyway to prevent potential future rusting. Then I primered it and sprayed it with a grey color. I did same procedure to undercarriage of car. Under hood I wirebrushed it and used POR 15 again, and sprayed it with a darker grey color. Don't know if any of these colors are correct but they are close to my parts car colors which I assume were/are original. For window channels, you might want to check with Restoration Specialties Supply at www.restorationspecialties.com or maybe Gary Goers has them.

radio remote adapter

Post by Forward Look Frank »

Hey John,
The part your looking for is a remote control extender. The models Radio Shack has are for home use only. The old models they carried could be modified to work off of 12 volts. The new ones I'm not sure. You'd have to put one inside the glove box with the radio and one in the path of your remote. There should be companies out there with a automotive model. It's been a long time since we discussed this! Can't beleive I remember. Well, gotta run. Thanks for the tips on the paint colors. Talk with you later.
Take Care,
Frank

Gary Goers sells window channels, and lots more . I suggest you send for his latest catalog..www.garygoers.com..........
\My parts cars have all been grey inside and underneath. Since you will be covering the cabin floors, I see no problem in going with POR 15..
