Fuel Sending Unit

Post by sportfury1959 »

This gas tank was installed on my Sport Fury but I’m pretty sure that it doesn’t belong there. As you can see on the picture the hole of the original intake tube was closed and a new intake tube was placed a little in front of the original one.

Does anybody recognise this gas tank or does anybody know from which car it is.

The Problem:
The fuel sending unit is broken and I need a replacement. The sending unit on the picture was already modified, but not very good. The original sender was placed where the screw driver shows.

Can anybody help?????

Fuel Sending Unit

Thanks Roger,
I don't want to change the gas tank! I need a new fuel sending unit and for that I have to identify the gas tank, so if anybody knows the year - it would help me a lot.

Thanks

Pardon me. Now I understand. This is a very difficult request. Can you supply at least ONE more photo? Gas tanks don't have manufacturers' logos on them. It could be a GM tank or Ford...Can the prior owner give you any information?

Is there any part number on the sending unit? Any ID at all?

Roger,

My apologies for the late reply. I’ve spend some weeks on the south coast of Portugal. Well I’m back again and the problem remains. There is now number on the Sending Unit but I probably found the Unit. I still don’t know if it works but by the weekend I probably can tell more. Curious how and why somebody changed the gas tank.

Gas tanks rust out if not maintained. Repair is not always an option.
Another possibility..removed for cleaning, and then lost.
