Fuel guage
A little tip that might help somebody. Late last summer my fuel guage stopped working. I thought maybe tank wasn't grounding properly so hooked ground wire to it but that didn't work. Last week I removed tank and checked sending unit. Discovered float was cracked and had a couple holes in it so it couldn't "float" and stayed at bottom of tank. Luckily I have a spare float from my parts car. While I have tank out I cleaned up the whole rear area and applied POR 15 to underside and am going to paint er up real pretty.
Thanks John. When I had my '55, I removed the tank and found a chunk of concrete and some long wooden sticks inside! Some neighborhood kids must of thought it funny...
I bought a kit from Eastwood to clean, etch and seal the inside of the tank. Lots of icky chemicals and a lot of work, but the tank came out beautiful. I'd do it again if I ever pull the tank off Faulkner.
