new FL addition to the stable

Post by Denver 59 Fin Convert »

I picked up this 57 Chrysler Windsor Town & Country 4 door Wagon a couple weeks ago after debating on it for 3 years to buy. Ron, this is one of your Idaho Springs, Colo cars you had spotted years ago.

Color is actually Sunset Rose but has faded to an Mary Kay Pink. It has rusty floors but a running 354 Poly motor in it that will be upgraded to Hemi status with the help of Rick Clapham (of course!), Previous owner had added the white below the trim piece but it should be all Sunset Rose except for the top area which is Desert Beige. Makes for a nice two tone car!

Hope to bring her home this Sunday to the house. Pictures are from this past Spring with the snow and all.. Car is in Conifer/Pine, Colorado area.

Yep me too! I did get it home yesterday and hosed off all the dirt and pine needles off of it. The color is suppose to be Sunset Rose which is darker then the pink that is on it now. The vehicle has 244,000 on it. the motor is an 354 Poly headed V8 that has been previously rebuilt at least once that I can tell. The engine runs and does not smoke which is a good sign.

Interior floors are of the Fred Flintstone style, well ventilated Floors that I will address first along with inner and outer rockers to strengthen the body structures. :o

More later on!

I have always wanted an FL Wagon, My parents had a 1959 Plymouth 6 passenger wagon when my Dad switched to Chrysler from Ford in 1959. But a little bit more upscale Chrysler and the color sold me. I had to do the floors in my convert so I have some experience in doing this again.

Plus it allowed me to buy an Plasma torch cutter to do this work! This wagon comes with an 58 Dodge SW shell that will donate the floors for this car.

Right now she is "Rosie the Rust bucket". But she is all licensed up, insured and legal to be driven and parked on the street. I have been gathering up parts for her on Ebay after taken a quick review of what she has and what she needs to be replaced or is missing.

The main cabin floors are what is mostly needed, My wife ordered me up from Amazon an Plasma Cutter to use. As it is much quieter than an compressed air powered cut off wheel. I agree! And I am sure most of my neighbors would concur. As most of my heavy work on cars occurs at night time. :o
