Finish the Jingle
Finish the Jingle
I'm going through my ephemera, putting it in plastic sleeves and binders - and came across this "Plymouth Family Fun Contest". It's not too late to enter! Just fill out the form below, and don't forget to include your Postal Zone (for those of you who remember them). Now, complete the jingle:
Plymouth's nimble, Plymouth's quick,
Plymouth looks and handles slick.
I took a "Two-Mile Try-Out" ride
--------------------------------------
(Print last line in this space. Make it rhyme with "ride.")
And please, no profanity or sexual innuendo! This is a family website, doncha know.

Re: Finish the Jingle
OK, I'll go first. How's this:
Plymouth's got it. Now, you decide!
or this:
I brought it home. Wife had my hide!
Or this:
You know that sleazy salesman lied!
Plymouth's got it. Now, you decide!

Re: Finish the Jingle
I thought for sure Gary would have taken the bait, being a PR guy, 'n all. Alright, one more, in the spirit of alliteration:
Surely shows Satisfaction's side!
Surely shows Satisfaction's side!
"If it's new, Plymouth's got it!"

That's awesome!! How did you find that, Gary?!?
And she won Matthew's Fury Junior too.
(Well, is has to be somebody's now.)

Looks like LBJ awarding the prize. I wonder what the winning lines were?

Googled "Plymouth Jingle Contest 1959" and they both popped right up. Several newspapers are making their archives searchable on line. It's an expensive, time-consuming process, but it's an amazing research tool.

Re: Finish the Jingle
These are the COOLEST things I have seen in recent times!!! How amazing to find the articles with the winners of the contests! Hmmm wonder where that 2drHT is now, National City & San Diego is my Sport Fury's old stomping ground.... Boy what I would give to win a brand NEW 59 Sport Fury!
Re: Finish the Jingle
OK - here's the whole kit and kaboodle that was sent to current Plymouth owners, the only ones who could enter the contest. I'm struggling to produce pdfs that eliminate the whitespace around the pages, but until I figure that out, this will have to do. [I figured it out - and it's fixed now. -Dan]
I'm including here one of two different brochures that were mailed with the packet - I suppose they targeted audiences, but I don't know for sure. I'll try to get around to scanning the second brochure soon. The last page of each brochure contains the contest rules that Gary posted earlier - check it out. I wonder how Ms. Gladys Dubois fared. (Not well, I suppose, since I have her entry card.)
Gary, in the absence of further proof, I have to assume that there are still 48 winners that have yet to claim their prize. Unless, of course, you find and post the other 48 winners... An assignment, for the interested student.
Oh, wait! There are 150 runner-up prizes, a Motorola 8 transistor pocket radio! Perhaps I'll be lucky enough to score one of those... I understand that they are broadcasting the Soviet Luna 1 satellite pings, I want to tune in for that:
