Davy Borghys no longer owns this fine specimen of a '59 Suburban. Where is it now?! -Dan
In June of 2005, Ron and Matthew went to visit Davy Borghys. "Davy’s garage is just a couple of miles from the Atomium", writes Ron, "and since we did not know a good location nearby Davy decided to show us the Atomium." (Read all about the amazing Atomium here.)
"It is being reconstructed right now, the old aluminium wasn’t shiny anymore but the new panels shine like 59 Plymouth stainless! The Atomium was build in 1958 for the World's Fair that was in Belgium that year. 1958 was an important year in history with things happening like:
The success of Brigitte Bardot following her role in the Roger Vadim film 'And God Created Woman';
Release of the first stereo record on the Belgian market;
release of Alfred Hitchcock’s film "Vertigo";
Invention of the laser by Richard Gordon Gould;
formation of NASA in the USA;
And of course the introduction of the new 1959 Plymouth! We thought this was an excellent location to make pictures of Davy’s Sport Suburban."
"The other pictures were taken close to his garage on a typical Belgium road. The kind of road that is really a challenge for the shock absorber of your car. But a great location with beautiful clouded skies. After that we parked the cars next to each other and Matthew even agreed to pose for me -- very, very rare but when the '59 Plymouth is involved miracles can happen. After those pictures Davy parked his car in front of the church next to the graveyard. After all it is a hearse he is driving!
We didn’t see a drop of rain all day as Davy had promised us until we went home, when we passed the border it started raining and Marjo told us that it had been raining all day in The Netherlands..."

"If it's new, Plymouth's got it!"
